New member of jakdeeandkids

Meet Pep AAAAAAY!

Weighing in at a massive few grams he is the newest addition to the clan.
I hope that ownership of the petite chien will teach the kids to be more gentle. So far not so good! He seems very easy going and willing to put up with the herding that goes on.
Two-yo our other cat is completely uninterested, I thought there would be a lot of “it's my territory NOT yours” but baring a few hisses and butt sniffing all is well.
Life is good for PEP AAAAAY!
The name is either Pepe Le Pew or Pepe Reina goalie for Liverpool.
You pick.
We can't.

Alders Beach 2010.
Did our usual visit to Alders this year, for only a week instead of the usual two.
We only took one day to do a run around of the local sights. Junk stores and book stores pretty much covers it.

The first day it rained and then only once more during the stay. It hasn't been the most lucky place for nice weather in past years but great this year.

Highlight would have to be going over to the sanctuary on Mitlenatch Island. Tom and Carol (managers of Alders) have a jet boat that got us across the 13km's in very short time, the boat was cruising at 30km's per hour and has the added advantage of no prop. Which means Tom was able to guide the boat right up to the waters edge the only limit being the depth of the hull. The Island is considered a desert due to its dry environment and is inhabited by many different types of birds, countless seals and the odd sea lion. Oh and snakes!

It was all pretty impressive. The only fly in the ointment was our little princess screaming all the way across and some of the way back “we're all going to die!!!”. Seems her dislike of boats is not limited to canoes but anything less than ferry size.

We took our usually load of requirements, espresso machine and grinder, ice cream maker and pasta maker. All were used and enjoyed, not just by us but all the other folks that came to dinner. Dee also brought a chocolate cake. I though she was nuts, seems I was the only one that did!
Went to a new restaurant in Courtney called “Common Ground”. It was kind of odd, not just because there was a line up to get in (huh?), but everyone was dressed in a kind of Amish come beatnik kind of way.
The sandwiches looked small but were filling and Miss P loved their carrot soup.
All in all it was a great trip, very low key and relaxing. Met new friends and touched base with old ones.

What more can you ask.

20th Anniversary!

20th Anniversary! (as of August 18th)

Yes, hard to believe, but it is true.
We celebrated by going to Lucy's. A warm and friendly restaurant not 5 minutes from us.
The kids came of course and our friends Izzi and Jill.

We had some appies, I had the brazed boar belly, Dee had cold smoked tuna with roasted veggies. Anwen (the little carnivore) loved mine so much she had it for her main course to. Jill and Izzi had salad. Izzi is cursed with being a vegiterrorist, Jill not so, except when it comes to pig!
Main course, G had pizza, Izzi had pizza,
I had a pasta dish of cowichan chicken with tomatoes, Anwen the pig, and Dee roasted albacore tuna. All very good.
Dessert was two ice cream sundae's I had the cream brulee and Dee a chocolate truffle. Oh and a scoop of vanilla for the princess. Anwen I mean.
We have eaten here before and the coffee sucked so badly, but they seam to have fixed the problem and the cappuccinos were quite good.
On to the next 20 years.
