Alders Beach 2010.
Did our usual visit to Alders this year, for only a week instead of the usual two.
We only took one day to do a run around of the local sights. Junk stores and book stores pretty much covers it.

The first day it rained and then only once more during the stay. It hasn't been the most lucky place for nice weather in past years but great this year.

Highlight would have to be going over to the sanctuary on Mitlenatch Island. Tom and Carol (managers of Alders) have a jet boat that got us across the 13km's in very short time, the boat was cruising at 30km's per hour and has the added advantage of no prop. Which means Tom was able to guide the boat right up to the waters edge the only limit being the depth of the hull. The Island is considered a desert due to its dry environment and is inhabited by many different types of birds, countless seals and the odd sea lion. Oh and snakes!

It was all pretty impressive. The only fly in the ointment was our little princess screaming all the way across and some of the way back “we're all going to die!!!”. Seems her dislike of boats is not limited to canoes but anything less than ferry size.

We took our usually load of requirements, espresso machine and grinder, ice cream maker and pasta maker. All were used and enjoyed, not just by us but all the other folks that came to dinner. Dee also brought a chocolate cake. I though she was nuts, seems I was the only one that did!
Went to a new restaurant in Courtney called “Common Ground”. It was kind of odd, not just because there was a line up to get in (huh?), but everyone was dressed in a kind of Amish come beatnik kind of way.
The sandwiches looked small but were filling and Miss P loved their carrot soup.
All in all it was a great trip, very low key and relaxing. Met new friends and touched base with old ones.

What more can you ask.
